Taylor Swift recently announced her 10th album at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on August 28th. This unexpected release left fans shocked and ecstatic at the idea of a new album that wasn’t a rerecording. Taylor Swift had been hinting at the new album by name-dropping it in spaced-out letters while announcing the release for ‘This Love (Taylor’s version) debuting in the show, “The Summer I Turned Pretty. Despite fans having missed this hint, which Taylor Swift was evidently so discreet at dropping, everyone is anticipating the release of this new album.
According to the social media announcement, midnights by Taylor Swift tells the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout the singer’s life. The gist of the album is the journey a person takes through sweet dreams and night terrors. It is safe to assume that this album is unlike anything Taylor Swift has ever released. Fans are even speculating collaborations with artists like Lana Del Rey and the 1975 for this album. Everyone is hoping for this to be a slow rock album, but in the end, fans will be extremely happy with the release regardless of what genre it is or what collaborations it may or may not have.
The announcement of the album was also a bold statement in regards to the previous Taylor Swift x Kanye West drama followed by the release of reputation by Taylor Swift which quite literally broke the internet. Taylor Swift wore a dress that was nearly identical to the bejeweled dress she was wearing in the music video of the song ‘Look What You Made Me Do’. The original feud between Taylor Swift and Kanye West also blew up at the VMAs (Video Music Awards), where Taylor Swift announced the release of Midnights. Midnights is also set to release on October 21st, which just so happens to be the birthday of Kim Kardashian, Kanye West’s ex wife, who gave him a lot of support during his feud with Taylor Swift. Coincidence?
All these details together certainly paint both the announcement and the anticipated release of midnights to be an eventful one that people worldwide are just shaking in their seats for. It’s safe to say that when it comes to Taylor Swift, we should really be expecting the unexpected!
